Cheshire Services Uganda (CSU) is a local organization working for and with persons with disabilities, orphans and other vulnerable children and was established in 1994. CSU envisions; “An inclusive society where the rights of Persons with disabilities are fully respected and where opportunities exist for them to reach their full potential and enjoy a better quality of life’’. CSU is driven by a mission; “To rehabilitate and empower Persons with disabilities to lead a dignified and productive life through inclusive education, livelihood improvement, research and advocacy.’’ CSU’s mandate includes: To reduce illiteracy among Persons with Disabilities through promotion of education, training and life-long learning; To improve livelihoods of PWDs and their families through skills training, grants and other interventions; To provide quality and comprehensive rehabilitation services to Children with Disabilities (CWDs); To advocate for the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities and; To contribute to disability related policy change at both macro and micro levels. CSU undertakes its work in five thematic areas; health and rehabilitation, inclusive education, sustainable livelihoods, human rights promotion and humanitarian response.
CSU has received funding from ENABEL to implement a one-year skills project (January -December 2022) for refugees and host community youths with disabilities in Kikuube district. To effectively implement the above project, CSU seeks to recruit competent and self-driven team to deliver the project.
The following positions are available;
Project Manager (1):
The Project Manager will play a leadership role in providing technical support in the planning, execution and direct supervision of implementation of the project work plans to ensure effective delivery of the project in accordance with the project design and the contractual requirements by the donor.
Accounts Assistant (1):
The Finance Assistant will in consultation with the Project Manager be responsible for financial resources at project level as well as maintenance of the project’s financial records in accordance with the organization and donor guidelines.
Project Officer (2):
The project officers will coordinate and manage the placement requirements of Persons with Disabilities and support them to transit from training to employment.
Office Attendant (1):
Maintain the office premises tidy at all time and make sure all the office visitors are well attended to including telephone calls.
