Bridging Disability and Development
We aim to influence policy change by contributing to awareness on disability rights in communities and among policy actors. In addition to stand alone advocacy and campaign programmes, advocacy is a cross-cutting area in all our programmes. Our approach is building the capacity of people with disabilities to advocate for their rights, building capacity of duty bearers both government and other actors and sensitizing the communities to change attitude towards persons with disabilities and promoting sharing and learning based on our programmes as a tool for policy change.
Funded by Community Lottery Fund and in partnership with Leonard Cheshire, the project advocates for employment of people with disabilities in the formal sector. The project approach is engagement and capacity building of employers and people with disabilities on disability inclusive employment. The project is aimed at supporting 100 young people with disabilities to enter waged employment.
