Cheshire Services Uganda (CSU) is a locally registered Non-Governmental Organization working for and with Persons with Disabilities, Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children. Cheshire Services Uganda implements projects in five thematic areas of Education, Livelihoods, Health & Rehabilitation, Support for everyday living and campaign and Advocacy.

CSU in partnership with Leonard Cheshire Disability (LCD) received Funding from a donor to implement an inclusive education project in Amolatar district. CSU is recruiting qualified individuals to fill the following positions;

1. JOB TITLE: Project Manager – Inclusive Education(1 Position)

Duration: 36 Months 
Duty Station: Amolatar 
Reports to: Head of Programmes

The Project Manager will play a leadership role in providing technical support in the planning execution and direct supervision of implementation of the project work plans to ensure effective delivery of the project in accordance with the project design and the contractual requirements by the donor.

Specific tasks and Responsibilities

• Directly manage the implementation of project activities to realize IE project outputs and outcomes.
• Planning of activities, tracking and ensuring that expenses are in line with the budget
• Work closely with the partners to ensure effective use of resources
• Development of various training plans, modules, methodologies and monitoring practices
• Plan and deliver capacity building trainings for teachers, local leaders, care givers and district authorities in   collaboration with the relevant inclusive education specialists.
• Identify, establish networks and maintain effective relationships with other partner organizations and        government line agencies/departments in the district
• Monitor and report on activity progress.
• Work with the other organization teams implementing Inclusive Education to promote synergy and inter-    project learning
• Instruct and monitor the project team performance, attitude and discipline. Participate in appraisal of the  project team
• Develop project monitoring tools to aid data collection in collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation  Manager. 
• Lead the project reporting function and liaise with the project team to ensure timely and accurate reporting on activity, monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Identify and network with other organizations, community leaders and government agencies engaged in  disability and education as a way of ensuring leverage and their active participation in the project. 
• Identify areas for capacity building among project team and develop training plans and materials for staff  capacity building
• Facilitate and supervise activities concerning participatory, formulation and implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation plan
• Participate in meetings and workshops relevant to the organization goals from time to time
• Fulfill any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

 Qualifications, skills and experience: 

 • A Bachelor’s Degree in Development studies, Education, community development, Community Based      Rehabilitation, social sciences or a related field. 
• At least three years’ relevant work experience in a reputable organization. 
• Competence in Computer applications especially in Ms word, Ms excel, internet and other packages
• Excellent communication skills in English. 
• Proven report writing skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, 
• A team player who is also able to work independently.
• Good problem-solving skills
• Good negotiation skills.
• Integrity and professionalism.
• Should have an understanding of disability related issues 
• Excellent knowledge of education issues nationally and globally and how these influence the implementation of the project

Desirable:
• Good working knowledge of local languages. 
• Knowledge of Sign Language.
• Knowledge of child protection issues and practices

2. JOB TITLE: Accounts Assistant

Duration: 36 months
Duty Station: Amolatar
Reports to: Finance and Administrative Manager

The Accounts Assistant will in consultation with the Project Manager and Finance and Administration Manager be responsible for financial resources at project level as well as maintenance of the project's financial records in accordance with the organization and donor guidelines

Specific tasks and Responsibilities: 

• Keep financial records for project related activities;
• Responsible for all financial transactions at project level
• Together with the Project Manager, develop quarterly budget forecasts for project activities
• Prepare financial reports on a monthly basis for review by the Finance and Administration Manager and onward submission to the Regional Finance Manager
• Provide administrative support to project personnel which may include procurement of supplies, equipment  and materials for specified activities
• And any other duties that may be assigned from time to time in the interest of the organization

Requirements:

• A minimum of a Diploma in finance and accounting, commerce, business administration or its equivalent 
• A professional qualification in Accounting is an added advantage
• Knowledge of accounting packages is an added advantage
• At least 3 years of experience in accounting and finance in donor funded programmes
• Proven track record in accounting and financial management
• Ability to develop budgets, forecasts and financial reports

3. JOB TITLE: Community Support Workers (3 positions available)

Duty Station: Amolatar
Reporting to: Project Manager
Duration: 36 months.

The CSW will be responsible for mobilization of communities and other stakeholders to embrace education for Children with Disabilities, mapping of Children with Disabilities as well as providing related support to ensure that children enroll, remain in school and demonstrate better learning outcomes.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Identify and support enrollment of Children with Disabilities in schools
• Support rehabilitation of CWDs through assessment and referral to rehabilitation providers. 
• Distribution of education supplies / enrollment support to CWDs.
• Organize community awareness raising events on disability and education. 
• Support training of parents of CWDs on business / income generating activities. 
• Form and strengthen Parent Support Groups to aid peer to peer support among parents of supported    Children with Disabilities
• Work with the Child Protection Manager to identify and refer cases of child abuse.
• Support the formation of child to child clubs in school and raise awareness on rights of Children with    Disabilities including education. .
• Engage in training of teachers and other stakeholders on Inclusive Education approaches. 
• Support in the maintenance of the beneficiary data base and files. 
• Identify and document the individual education needs of CWDs.
• Map and support parents to access grants and other social protection schemes.
• Track school attendance for Children with Disabilities 
• Facilitate access of stakeholders to the Project Inclusive Education Resource Centre.
• Organize counseling, mentoring and career guidance sessions for CWDs.
• Support CWDs to participate in extra-curricular activities.
• Planning and implementing activities that develop self-esteem and social skills among CWDs
• Regularly provide the IE Project Manager with up to date progress report of CWDs.
• And any other duties that may be assigned from time to time in the interest of the organization.

Qualifications, Knowledge and skills

A minimum of a Diploma in Community based rehabilitation, Development studies, Community Development, Education, social sciences or any other related field. Successful candidates will be expected to possess a valid Motor Cycle Riding license

Language:

• English 
• Local language

Experience:

At least two years work experience in a related field. Community work experience will be an added advantage.
